Senior Pastor & Pastor's Wife
Rev. Robert McElroy is a Texas native who accepted Christ at an early age in San Antonio and was baptized by the late Pastor Claude Black at Mt. Zion First Baptist Church of San Antonio. He is a graduate of Morehouse College (B.A.) in Atlanta, Georgia, and the University of Texas at Austin (M.A.). Pastor McElroy accepted his calling to preach at Good Street Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas, under the leadership of the late Pastor C. A. W. Clark. He served for many years as a professional educator and educational leader. His philosophy of ministry has depth but remains simple: the Essence of Ministry is Compassion; the Nature of Ministry is Relevance; the Foundation of Ministry is the Word of God; and the Goal of Ministry is Reconciliation.
Rev. Darline McElroy, Pastor McElroy’s wife of nearly 30 years, is a Texas-licensed professional counselor and therapist, as well as a licensed minister. She is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (B.S.) and Amberton University, Garland, Texas (M.A., M.A.). She is a former school counselor and educator, she has a passion for learning, teaching, and writing, and she enjoys facilitating groups and Bible study with a focus on practical encouragement and spiritual growth. She is also the founder of a private counseling practice, where she supports individuals and families through life’s challenges with professional care and compassion.
Both consider their family one of their most cherished, God-given blessings. They are the parents of four children and remain committed to serving the church and community through preaching, teaching, compassionate care, and the steady extension of grace.
